Handel’s Messiah, part 1, which tells the Christmas story, will be performed in St Peter’s Church Horningsea on Saturday 29th November, 7:30pm by Eyehall Musick and Fen Edge Voices, accompanied by the Fen Edge Baroque Ensemble and directed by Ian Priest. Solos will be sung by members of the choir; the audience will be invited to join in the singing of the Hallelujah chorus to end the concert.
The first half of the concert will include American composer Morten Laurisden’s setting of O Magnum Mysterium, which has become a C20th choral classic, and Corelli’s Christmas Concerto played by the ensemble. There will also be a Christmas carol for the audience to join in singing.
Come and enjoy this glorious music in the candlelit ambience of St Peter’s, as the Horningsea 800 year draws to a close.
Tickets will cost £7.50 and are available in advance from Jennie Pratt, Andy or Cathy Clarke, or Frank Hopkirk (861161 or info@eyehallmusick.com ) or on the door.
