The Horningsea Parish Charities were established in the Eighteenth Century to provide for anyone in the village who is “in need”. The remit of the charity has changed over the centuries but the Trustees still meet on a regular basis to distribute income to those in the Parish who have particular needs. Nowadays this includes youngsters who have been given grants to take part in sporting activities as well as the elderly who may be in need of a small grant at Christmas time.
The assets of the Charities are limited and so the grants are small – no more than about £100 and usually about £25. Anyone who may be in need of a small grant is asked to contact one of the Trustees or the Parish Council. The secretary is Lindsay Davies: lindsay (at) horningsea.freeserve.co.uk
